We are a local history group formed in 2003 who meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm except Jan & Aug at St Martins Church Hall Canterbury Road Herne. We hold talks and outings based on local history topics and have an ongoing project group actively collecting local historical information.

The Society was formed as Herne Bay Records Society in 1932. The name of the society was changed to Herne Bay Historical Records Society in 1988.The Society's Archive and Search Room is situated on the Top Floor of Pettman House Hanover Square Herne Bay CT6 5NY. We hold evening meetings on the first Thursday of each month (excluding January and August) at Pettman House which cover a wide range of local history subjects. Appointments can be made through our website to visit our archives for local research purposes.
